Keep in mind that pretty much everything listed here could be changed or cancelled if it snows, or even if it doesn’t. Apparently there are already some closings and cancellations just based on the weather forecast. Myself, I don’t ever really believe the forecasts. I don’t even watch them–I just notice, eventually, that everyone’s talking about the weather and going shopping, and then I get the vague notion that I should check the weather and possibly go shopping. And then I don’t do either.
But if my children’s snow day rituals have anything to do with it, we’re going to get dumped on, big-time.

- Seneca Ray Stoddard: Capturing the Adirondacks at New York State Museum.
- Family-Friendly Exhibit: Fine Art Feathers at Albany Heritage Area Visitors Center & Henry Hudson Planetarium. An exhibit of paintings, illustrations and wood carving celebrating North American birds in various natural habitats. Public reception on Sunday, February 10th, 1-3pm.

- Alpine Racing Clinic at Gore Mountain. This camp is for intermediate and advanced skiers and coaches.
- Furry Tales & Touchables at New York State Museum. A storybook reading comes to life as youngsters observe and touch real and replica Museum specimens that relate to the story.
- Friday, February 8: Pre-School Story Hour with Pam at the Open Door Bookstore at Open Door Bookstore. Enjoy songs & stories every Friday with Pam!
- Friday, February 8: Wiggle and Giggle at The Children’s Museum at Saratoga at The Children’s Museum at Saratoga. This is a special time for children to learn what they can do with their bodies.
- Friday, February 8: Spring Open House at Glenville Cooperative Nursery School. Come join us for our open house and registration!
- Friday, February 8: Parents Night Out at the Ciccotti Center at Rudy A Ciccotti Family Recreation Center. Enjoy some time on your own while your kids play in the gym, swim, have pizza, then watch a movie complete with popcorn and beverage. Pre-registration required. Please call at least one day in advance. Limited space available.
- Saturday, February 9: Playathon at Crossgates Mall at Empire State Youth Orchestra. A day-long musical showcase of all of our ensembles, musical “petting zoo” where you can try out different instruments, and more.
- Saturday, February 9: Story Art at The Children’s Museum at Saratoga at The Children’s Museum at Saratoga. Each week we’ll listen to a new story and create a craft inspired by it.
- Saturday, February 9: Snowshoe Hike at Up Yonda Farm at Up Yonda Farm Environmental Education Center- Bolton Landing. A guided hike including a look at the history and technique of snowshoeing followed by a trail walk looking for signs of animal. Snowshoes available for rent, hike if there’s no snow.
- Saturday, February 9: Open House at St. George’s at St. George’s Elementary School. An Open House will be held for families on Saturday, February 9th from 11:00-1:00 at St. George’s in Clifton Park. Come visit classrooms (Preschool- 2nd grade) and talk with teachers. Learn about our new full day Pre-K and after school programs.
- Saturday, February 9: Exhibition Opening Reception at Berkshire Museum.

- Saturday, February 9: Black Baseball Players, White Crowds: The Mohawk Colored Giants of Schenectady at Schenectady County Historical Society. Local baseball historian and author Frank Keetz will trace the history of the Mohawk Colored Giants, an all-African-American professional baseball team in Schenectady, and discuss the team’s impact and legacy in the area.
