Both The Open Door Bookstore in Schenectady and Market Block Books in Troy are doing special Where’s Waldo activities in July.
You and your child can hunt for 20 Waldos scattered among local businesses, find Waldo, and win prizes. Hooray for shopping local and making it fun for the kiddos. The Open Door Bookstore also has a Where’s Waldo? program this Wednesday at 9:30 am.
For those of you who don’t get the KidsOutAndAbout.com newsletter yet, I wanted to make sure you heard my plug for Circus Smirkus! will be at Saratoga Race Track which continues tomorrow. Circus Smirkus is a traveling circus of kids who have been training for years to participate, and they’re good. A few weeks ago my husband and I got sucked into a documentary on PBS (oh, if only we had a nickel for every time that happened) called Circus Dreams about a year in the life of Circus Smirkus. I’d heard about the circus, vaguely, before, but after watching the movie, we knew that we simply must go this year. I’m excited. Plus, it’s all human, no animals, so if you are someone who eschews the typical circus, this is a great choice for you. And, yes, now the plug is tardy, but if you got the dang newsletter you would have heard about this on Thursday, so sign up if you want this stuff in a timely manner.
